Vintage Girl In The Snow.

Description

Perhaps my favourite from the collection I took last winter featuring my friend Amy. I've really tried hard in this to create a desired vintage effect and finally I think I've got it, I've given a suttle blue tone to the image but which doesn't detract from the hair or red top. Please comment! :)

First and most important thing is it does POP at me at initial glance. This is so important since our audience has hundreds of photo images they will be going through on DA or in magazines, etc...the "Wow" Factor. For some details, some of which you may not have intended - I know I don't always see things when taking the shot that others see afterwards: I like the candid shot, not posed; you were able to get the smile and teeth; like the angle of the shot, which appears to be a good technique of yours; REALLY like the snow-to-woods contact location in the photo and the DOF it produces to focus on th subject; even like the smidge of blue sky up top and the darkness of the subject contrasts well against the snow; most favourite thing that caught my eye besides the angle of the photo was the splash of snow (I think it is snow?) against the dark background. I assume maybe you or she threw the snow up in the air? Or it is a post-process item? Regardless, good effect. Four things I would have liked differently or just to comment on: logo is distracting over her head, more sky color (post process maybe?), bigger splash of red from her shirt; lost the detail of her head and outfit on the right side of the photo (maybe use a reflector, maybe fill flash - but then we are modeling and not a candid shot) and lastly, the first time I saw the photo, I thought the girl was against a body of water, not snow, which is not negative, but I found interesting! Overall I like your portrait efforts, as I knew I would - good job!
